Exhibition quality framing guaranteed
The materials used are the best professional items available, and those that I feel best compliment the black & white photography. All work is done on premises, and will arrive ready for hanging and display.
Mount
A photograph is sometimes mounted to present the image and protect it from creasing and bending. Traditionally, photos have been mounted with acid-free board. Modern prints more often are mounted with Gaterboard, a more stable material not as susceptible to heat and humidity.
Gaterboard ia a much more durable cousin of Foamcore. It is 3/8 inch thick, has a black edge, the bond between the print and the Gaterboard is made by adhesive mounting, and is permanent.
Mat
The images are matted with Crescent® eight-ply archival museum quality 100% acid-free mat board, made of white cotton fiber. The image is secured with acid-free linen tape and mounting corners. This technique allows you to easily view an artist's signature on the back of a Silver Gelatin Print, or remat the image as you see fit. On Giclee, where the signature is on front border, the mat opening allows for signature visibility.
Frame
The molding is made of natural smooth solid wood. It has a black matte finish, with a face measurement of 2.5 inches and depth profile of 1 inch.
Glass
The preference here is to use an acrylic plastic sheet of Plexiglas® that is crystal clear (with transparency equal to optical glass). It is a lightweight material having outstanding weather ability, high impact resistance, good chemical resistance, and excellent UV protection. Actual non-glare glass and Ultraviolet (UV) laminate are also an option.
